- Can you do calligraphy if you are left handed?
Of course, many top calligraphers are lefthanders!
- Do I have to be attending classes or be good at calligraphy?
It is not necessary to be going to regular classes, you just need to want to enjoy calligraphy and have fun.
- Do I have to be good at calligraphy to join Mercian Scribes?
No as everyone at Mercian Scribes is striving to be good, we have beginners as well as more accomplished members.
- How do I become a member of The Mercian Scribes?

- How much are your workshops?
Workshops led by professional tutors are £15 for members and £20 for non-members. Self taught workshops are charged to cover room cost only, usually around £3 depending on numbers.
- How often do you meet?
We meet once a month on a Saturday except in August when we have a summer break.
- Is calligraphy equipment expensive?
You can start with very little equipment and add more later, so calligraphy is relatively in expensive.
